METEOR SHOWER MAY'6TH
TODAY, I AM GOING TO TELL YOU ABOUT THE AQUARID METEOR SHOWER WHICH TOOK
PLACED IN MAY 6TH!
AS WELL, I WILL ANSWER THE QUERY I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE!
First of all, what is a meteor?
A meteor is
a meteoroid – or a
particle broke off an asteroid or comet orbiting the Sun – that burns up as it
enters the Earth's atmosphere, creating the effect of a "shooting
star". Meteoroids that reach the Earth's surface without
disintegrating are called meteorites
Then, how can you watch it?
Fire up the Interactive Meteor Shower Sky Map on your mobile device to
find out where to look in the sky for the radiant. Don't have a cellular
signal? Don't despair. Just print out the table on the meteor shower page
beforehand and bring it with you. Plan your trip such that you give yourself
about 15-30 minutes to set up and let your eyes adjust to the dark. Dress for
the weather. Meteor watching, like stargazing, can be a waiting game, so
bring anything that will make your wait comfortable—blankets, reclining chairs,
pillows, and warm beverages.
The key to seeing a meteor
shower is "to take in as much sky as possible," Cooke
said. Go to a dark area, in the suburbs or countryside, and prepare to sit
outside for a few hours. It takes about 30 minutes for your eyes to adjust to
the dark, and the longer you wait outside, the more you'll see
And, what should you need to carry?
Trust me it does not need to carry anything with you can watch it without
any tool! Meteor observers
do not need any expensive equipment I
THE AQUARID METEOR SHOWER:
Well, every year, our planet Earth crosses the orbital path of Halley's
Comet in late April and May,
so bits and pieces from this comet light up the night-time as Eta Aquariid
meteors. This shower is
said to be active from April 19 to May 20,
although Earth plots most deeply into this stream of comet debris around May 5 or 6
For stargazers, the next few days will be a treat as the Eta Aqua rid
meteor shower peaks this week, with the best viewing in the pre-dawn hours of
May 6.
This year's show is set to peak in the pre-dawn hours of May 6, though
there could be plenty to see on May 5 and 7 as well. As per the report of
International Meteor Organization (IMO) on May 6, the shower will be at peak
nearly 55 meteors per hour are expected to be seen from dark skies.
Eta Aqua rid Meteor shower is caused by flakes of dust leftover by
Comet Halley, which last visited Earth in 1986. Although the comet is now far
away, beyond the orbit of Uranus, it left behind a stream of dust. Earth passes
through the stream twice a year in May and October. In May we have the eta Aqua
rid meteor shower and in October the Orionids. Both are caused by Halley's
Comet when its debris enters earth atmosphere zipping across the sky while it
disintegrates.
Before dawn these next several mornings – May 4, 5 and 6, 2020 –
meteors from the annual Eta Aquariid meteor shower will be flying, though in
the glaring light of the almost-full waxing gibbous moon. We expect the morning
of May 5 to showcase the peak number of meteors. But try the mornings before
and after as well, as this meteor shower has a relatively broad peak. The
morning before (May 4, 2020) might be the best of these upcoming three days,
because the moon will set at an earlier hour on May 4. Even so, you won’t have
much moon-free viewing time before dawn on May 4.
Visit Sunset Sunrise Calendars to find out when the moon sets
in your sky, remembering to check the moonrise and moonset box.

The shower is named after a star called Eta Aqua ride in the constellation Aquarius.
"Those interested should get one hour before sunrise on May 6 and look above towards East direction and southeast direction to spot bright streaks of light zipping across the sky. At this time people can also see can see Venus in East and Saturn in West appearing as non-twinkling objects," Raghunandan Kumar director & founder secretary of Planetary Society, India told HT.
